About Lydia Irion

I like...

flowers and whimsical dresses,

days spent outdoors with a book, swimsuit, or a pair of running shoes,

tragic love stories,

other cultures,

dinner parties,

large mugs of coffee

and pretty much any dessert.

Most of all...

I love Jesus

and I love people.

I'm on a journey to know God more and to discover each day which part of the canvas I am to paint. This space is one corner of the canvas. The rest is creation - the flesh and blood people I interact with every day, the glories of nature, the physical walls within which I live, those far away lands I reach with my prayers.

I paint with words mostly - spoken, written, unvoiced.

I am like grass.

"The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the Word of our God stands forever." (Isaiah 40:8)

My voice will fade swiftly. My words will disappear in a void of history. My canvas is a spec on that larger one. But "His power is made perfect in my weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:9) My smallness makes Him appear great.

So, knowing my brushstrokes are sloppy and poor imitations of His own, I freely join in the act of creation. It's risky. And yet I am so safe here in His family. My Father smiles because He is painting too, right over my own strokes, blending colors, creating a masterpiece.
